Water Color miniatures – NIKETA FAZAL

I have been working on these miniature paintings for almost a year collecting reference material and taking pictures during my travels. The frames are inspired by the colorful Kitenge wraps worn by the women all over Kenya. The little paintings are styled like the Moghul dynasty miniatures with many little details and patterns to mimic how many ‘little’ tasks a woman has to accomplish in her day.
The titles define the women as she submits to the expectations required of her- of caring, nurturing and providing
safe water to drink for their families.
Water is life and water access in rural areas and its’ availability in urban spaces has definitely been on my mind lately.
